Whether you're a home owner or renter, one of the most dreaded combination of words in the lexicon of home related vocabulary has to be "pipe leak". Living in a 1917 built apartment, we've experienced our fair share of plumbing emergencies ourselves, and suspect a great deal of our building's piping system is in need of replacement or repair. But replacing plumbing is right up there with serious dental work, both taking a lot of time and money (not to mention the pain). A Irvine, California company has come with an affordable and less invasive solution for plumbing leak repairs that might ease the hassle of pipe repair...

The ACE Duraflo ePIPE system is what they call an "in-place" epoxy-based pipe restoration technology. Broken down to its most simple steps, piping is repaired by:

  1. Air drying – air hoses are connected to the piping system. The isolated system is then dried with preheated, filtered air.
  2. Cleaning – the dried pipes are cleaned using an air and abrasive mixture that prepares the inside surface of the pipes for proper bonding of the epoxy.
  3. Epoxy coating – the final stage of the ePIPE process is the application of the epoxy lining to the system. This seals and protects the piping system from future corrosion.

If we're understanding this correctly, it's sort of like your plumbing system getting a serious colonic, then having all the corroded spots repaired with a sealant from within. We don't have currently have any plumbing issues [knocking on wood], but any of your out there who do might want to look into a free estimate here.
