We've had many occasions to buy telephones for clients as well as for ourselves and have always been disappointed in the choices. After you spend so much time and money on your apartment, that last thing you want to have hang on the wall is a telephone that looks like a crazy TV remote control or a gadget from an anime movie. And while cell phone styling proceeds at breakneck pace, the top US brands - AT&T, VTech, Panasonic, GE, Sony and Uniden - are, I'm sorry, BUTT UGLY.

The Europeans are better at home phones, and while they used to be hard to find, Philips is - and has been - my favorite and phone of choice for a number of years now. The designers at Philips are designing phones for ADULTS and homes that are understated and stylish.

Philips keeps updating their styles, but they are always similar in shape, powerful and beautifullly designed. Their current design is their line of DECT phones, and they have a new odd - for them - design called the ID9 which promises crazy features like Enhanced High Def Voice and a SIM card reader (above). They also have VOIP and Skype handsets as well (below).

If you're buying a house phone, we'd recommend taking a look at the Philips lineup first and then purchasing at Amazon for good prices. >>
