Before & After: Our Bedroom Corner Melbourne

While it's a luxury to have extra space around the house, it can be a curse if you have no idea how to use it. We had one of those spaces– a corner in our bedroom. For months we've pondered how to make the most of it but we really didn't want to fill it for the sake of filling it. One Saturday morning at around 7:30am our bedroom corner got some direction from a garage sale bargain, see below…

We bought a brand new leather chesterfield armchair from a garage sale one morning for $80. From there we bought a standard lamp from our favourite op shop for $20 [complete with safari themed lampshade] as well as the marble side table for $20. The elephant and camel print are sheets of wrapping paper from Zetta Florence at $7.95 each while the frames were made at husbands work using left over timber from his students.

This corner has become one of the most popular places in our home- perfect for reading, phone calls or writing posts. While it might not be everyone's cup if tea [much like our carpet], for $135 or USD$86 even if it only suits us for a few seasons we think its money well spent.
