Best Products: Sleep Masks by Alison Rose

Feb 20, 2008

There is a terrible and obnoxious street light that lives right outside our bedroom window. We could have opted for black-out curtains but we rather like our bamboo shades. Our only other options were to call the city to have the light moved (yeah, right) or to find the perfect sleep mask.

You might think this would be an easy quest but we've searched high and low and came up sleepless. Most masks were either very cute (and very expensive) or flimsy and non-functional. But our search is finally over because we found the ideal design in the new line of hand-crafted Alison Rose sleep masks.

More styles and reasons to love 'em after the jump.

With backgrounds in fashion design and graphic arts, the craft duo of Alison Rose, whom you might remember from their AT House Tour or adaptation of the R2-D2 trash can, have a good eye for choosing patterns and colors. So these masks are pretty but let's get right into the technicalities...

Our favorite thing about our new sleep mask is that it's big. There is absolutely no chance of light infiltration but they're not too large that they'll obstruct your breathing. The elastic band fits snugly so the mask won't end up around your neck in the bright hours of daybreak. The ultra-suede liner is an especially soft and dreamy touch.

The masks are for sale through the Alison Rose etsy shop for $15. If you have your own fabric in mind, feel free to contact them for a custom look. Sweet dreams...
