Fourth Generation iPod Nano is a Throwback

iLounge has it on good faith that this year's iPod Nano won't be a mini-Touch, as some were speculating. Instead, the new Nano will revert back to the retro styling of, say, 2005...

With a longer screen, a click wheel and a lean silhouette, the new Nano looks nothing like the square version that came directly before it, and frankly, we're a bit thankful. We always try to be innovative and cutting edge, but sometimes it seems better to go by the southern-tongued mantra, "If it ain't broke, don't go fixin' it."

The Nano has a vertically-oriented display with a click wheel underneath, perhaps to appease the legions of Apple-heads who want to manually shuffle their songs without looking at the screen. The new screen will have the same 1.5:1 ratio of the iPhone and iPod Touch, enabling you to rotate it horizontally to watch videos.

iLounge makes comparisons to the current Microsoft Zune (pictured in pink).
