Good Questions: Color Scheme For My Apartment?

Good Questions: Color Scheme For My Apartment?

Hello AT,

Due to a leak in the roof and subsequent stain, painters will need to come to fix the place, and because of this, I thought I'd take advantage of the situation and give the whole place an update.

My problem is that I'm a bit stumped choosing a color scheme for my apartment.

Here's what I have to work The picture to the left shows the color of my kitchen and the slate floors (both were there when i got the place); the slate is in the bedroom as well as the main room, and the kitchen color is also the color of the bathroom door and frame.

The wall in front of the bathroom door is shared with the bedroom, and therefore, should coordinate...

(Note: Include a pic of your problem and your question gets posted first.)

Coordinating with furniture at the moment is a non-issue, because the only furniture i have so far is a block wardrobe (think ikea pax with wood veneer finish), a futon-ish bed, and dining room table, all of which i hope to replace with "grown up" furniture.

Even if I decide to keep the kitchen/main room white, what colors can I choose for the bedroom and bathroom that will make the apartment coherent?

My first thought was to paint the main bathroom wall bright yellow, however that would completely clash with the door.

In my My cure questionnaire, I wrote that I'd like this place to be "Chic, Welcoming-cozy, and efficient".

If I were to describe my style it would be like a modern boutique hotel.

Any Ideas or suggestions?

Thanks! Sanna
