Good Questions: Scrabble Rugs?

Good Questions: Scrabble Rugs?

Last year, Grace posted about a giant Scrabble rug that was as reasonably priced as it was quirky. I just stumbled on the post today while researching new rugs and, as an incurable Scrabble geek I was tempted... for a minute. The rug was pretty fabulous... but huge. I live in a small NY apartment, and it would take up the entire room...

Got a good question you'd like answered? Send your queries and a good image or two here and we'll see if the ATLA team or our readers can help you out.

If the traditional colors weren't so hideous I might consider it (imagine a Scrabble rug with burgundy/red background as the dominant board color, with jewel toned purples and/or greens and/or blues as the double and triple point tiles).

So, my questions are:
1. Do you know if anyone makes a reasonably priced small Scrabble rug that function as a funky entry doormat or a bathmat, or maybe just a slightly larger rug that could add a bit of playfulness to a small corner of a living room without taking over the whole space?

and, if not, then:

2. Can anyone suggest a DIY way to make a Scrabble rug -- preferably in colors I prefer that actually work with the furniture I already have?

In regards to a welcome mat inspired by Scrabble, we remember this Jeni Rodger's "Your Welcome Mat", but we can't seem to find anything in our archives or online about any other fullsize rug. Perhaps this would be a good time to visit the FLOR showroom and purchase carpet tiles, stencil your own designs and put together your own Scrabble rug.
