Green Idea: Inca CheckTap USB Programmable Power Strip

Green Idea: Inca CheckTap USB Programmable Power Strip

Jun 27, 2008

It was actually the look of this power bar that first caught my eye, but it was the USB programmable aspect that kept my attention. Why do we need a USB programmable power strip? It can save you 70% in energy costs by turning on and off different peripherals based on when they are and are not needed.

Plug in your PC power cable into the dedicated outlet and all your other peripherals into the other jacks and you can setup which ones turn off and after how long. When you get back to your computer, hit any key or push the mouse around and everything powers back up automatically. Easy. Winner of the Grand Prix of the 2008 International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, it looks like the CheckTap pricing and availability info is still to be determined. Keep checking back here for more info.
