House Tour: Chris & Stephanie's Hip Lower Haight Home

Name: Chris, Stephanie, Lily, Mia & Vaughn
Location: Lower Haight
Size: 1500 Square Feet
Years lived in: 1.5 years

Much like the neighborhood they call home, Chris and Stephanie's three bedroom Victorian apartment has a healthy dose of style and laid-back cool. It's no wonder the Lower Haight residents chose this area for both of their equally stylish stores, as well. Frequent visitors to the neighborhood will no doubt be familiar with the hip music store Groove Merchant Records and the painfully lovely Bluebird, featuring children's fashion designed by Stephanie alongside perfect vintage women's pieces...

Knowing the stores these two own made us all the more interested in their home, and we're pleased to say the resulting images did not disappoint. From a wall of vintage purses to a collection of Russell Wright American Modern dinnerware, the place has got an old soul with a new, stylish edge... warmed up by creations from the couple's kids, Lily, Mia and Vaughn.

AT Survey:

Our style: We love things found at flea markets.

Inspiration: Chris inspires me. And the kids constantly are coming up with stuff that impresses us. Right now, I'm looking out for Golden Hands craft magazines from the 1970s. Beyond music, Chris loves the Coliseum Flea Market in Oakland and his visits with Mickey McGowan of the Unknown Museum. Daily inspiration from sfgirlbybay, Design*Sponge, Oh Happy Day and Wright20.

Favorite Element: Deck off the kitchen

Biggest Challenge: Keeping the toys under control.

What Friends Say: Good vibes

Biggest Embarrassment: The pile of clean laundry that usually sits on the dining room table.

Proudest DIY: All our DIYs are DBD (done by my Dad) so we can't really claim them for ourselves. Most recently, he hung open shelving in the kitchen for the American Modern set he gave us.

Biggest Indulgence: Couches, Organic Cotton beds, Linens and records.

Best advice: Keep kid clutter out of the master bedroom.
