All hail the clamp! Used in woodshops, backyards, and even under our desk to hold things together, the mighty clamp can prove to be a useful tool. Picking up on that, product designer Jorre van Ast, has designed a concept that modifies clamps ever so slightly to make them that much more utilitarian.

Clampology is a series of clamps that can be used for just about anything in the house -- from holding up a cook book to organizing your computer wires. After the jump a look at all the things this prototype can do...

The collection features clamps shaped for different functions.

From left to right, a table leg and a clamp controls unruly wires, pinching open books, and and keeping magazines upright.
