There are some rooms that are filled with so much warmth and a sense of magical fun, that you instantly feel the children who reside in such rooms must be constantly giggling. Sofia and Mila's space is one of those rooms.

Surrounded by beautiful, bright colors and enchanting details throughout, this is exactly the kind of room our 6-year-old self would have adored and Sofia and Mila's mother, Erika, has truly created a great space.

Erika tells us, "When we re-designed their room I wanted it not to stay away from to much pink and used the duvet covers and the (Hungarian) fabric for the curtains as inspiration for the colours of the room."

She continues "Because the room is quite small and they share it, we decided to build their beds and shelves to maximise the floor and storage space. They each have their bed with curtains for some privacy." Both Mila and Sofia's beds are hidden little nooks that seem very inviting and cozy. We love the myriad of pillows on the beds with great fabrics showcasing everything from polka dots, cats, owls to hot pink flowers. Who would ever want to leave it?

The duvets on the beds come from Hema, one of Erika's favorite stores and the cushion covers are all made by Erika with her own fabrics and fabrics purchased from Aunty Cookie.

The play area features a darling kitchen (with many of the items also coming from Hema) with plenty of storage space for Sofia and Mila's treasures. The space was constructed from shelves made by Sofia and Mila's father, along with second-hand shelves, a CD cabinet and some leftover MDF. The shelves were then painted by Erika in a shade that is meant to match the duvet covers.

Other handmade items include the small paintings on the wall created by the girls' grandmother and the curtains made with Hungarian fabric (which were actually also curtains) constructed by Erika's Hungarian grandmother.

When asked for advice on how to approach the decorating process, Erika says, "Start with a favourite object for example, a painting or duvet cover and let that inspire you for the use of colour and theme for the room. Raise the bed from the floor, so you have lots of space for toys and more toys. Our girls love having their little house, you can create that very easy with some curtains in front of the bed."

Thank you so much for sharing with us, Erika. And sleep tight, Mila and Sofia!
