NY Spring Cure: Week Six - Weekend

This is Louisa's favorite room, the kitchen, and she's been a bit derailed, but not to worry, readjust your finish and land with us Louisa!

Hello all! Here in NYC it is a stunning, hot spring day and it feels really good to throw open the windows and clean things out. Visiting my friends Charles and Julie for lunch today, they had spent the morning clearing out their kitchen cabinets of old and unused food, and now I'm in the office cleaning out and rearranging for a new hire who starts on Monday (can't wait - he's our new developer, who's coming on board to fix up our system and solve all the maddening bugs and other things that aren't working correctly).

This is a crunch weekend and I urge you all push through, but not to beat yourself up about "being behind". If you are "behind" - and who isn't somewhere? - I want you to recalibrate your plans in light of the time that you have left and see if you can bring your plane in for a landing along with the rest of us. Assuming that you've done more during the past six weeks than in a LONG TIME, it is important to gain the feeling of "landing" and I don't want to leave any of you up there flying around. Which leads me to your dinner party plans......Do something. What will it be?

In our office today. It's all IKEA, but great pieces. The desks are wood butcher block counter top that need to be sealed so they can be cleaned regularly.

This Week's Assignment: In the deep treatment the overall theme is peacefulness. As you clean out your bathroom(s), I want you to get to a point where you are able to put some calming luxury back into them. If you don't have them already, there are some purchases to be made here that can change your bathroom experience.

In the One Room Remedy take a good look at the lighting in your home. I find that most homes are underlit and that most that seem drab or uninspired could be turned around simply by addressing the lighting alone. Get adventurous! Lighting can be very affordable and different kinds of lights will really make your home leap to life. Oh, and there's some painting to do this week for some. Enjoy our small tutorial on how to paint a room. It's basic, but we find that it always helps to remember it when we're painting a room.

The living room corner is coming along at LaurelAnn's and looking lovely. She's showing the spirit: "I. Will. Not. Drop. Out!"
