PlantTherapy: Saturday Morning Flowers

Jul 19, 2008

Still with very limited e-mail access, but wanted to quickly share this nice surprise that showed up at a local deli. I grew up not liking marigolds, but these were a really nice orange color and very full, not the onese I grew up buying in packs at the greenhouse! And for $5 for a bunch it's hard not to give them a try.

Anyone a big fan of these flowers? Opposed? When I saw these I immediately was reminded of an arrangement idea that was in a magazine not that long ago...

We're sending a shout-out to all of you who bring home flowers to brighten up your home. Do YOU have some Sat. morning flowers to share? Let me know! You can drop a line with a small description and some pics at matt at apartment therapy dot com

It was David Stark's technique from the NY Mag 2008 flower guide and carnations were used to make a bed of color at the lip level of the vase. I think for big fans of orange these might be a fun substitute for that technique. Stuff these in tightly and then have a few taller flowers (like the Gerberas he used) stuck in for height.
