We've debated the merits of various stones, laboratory-grade finishes and butcher blocks but we're loving the cheap and practical solution of plywood! According to author Mark Powers, the trick is using furniture-grade veneer plywood that is trimmed with solid hardwood and carefully sealed with a urethane or varnish.
