Pierre Chareau's Maison de Verre Bookcase

This amazing bookcase is the work of architect and designer Pierre Chareau. The wall of books is housed inside Chareau's last remaining building, la Maison de Verre (1932). Author Dominique Vellay - granddaughter of the house's original owners, Dr. and Mrs. Dalsace - recently published a book about her grandparents' home. We found a review with some great photographs of the bookshelves and the rest of this modernist gem on 1stdibs...

The bookcase and industrial iron and wood ladder are our favorite parts of this home. Books are stacked two shelves deep, and the staggered cases allow access to back-shelf books. For more information on the new book by Dominique Vellay, click here. There's also an interesting article from the New York Times on la Maison de Verre here.
