Having a great kitchen doesn't require the big bucks. For just a little bit of money, you can trick it out with some pretty wonderful features that improve the look or functionality of your kitchen, so you can make what you've got even a little bit better.

Daniel of Manhattan Nest (also lead image above) installed some sliding organizers in his former "it's fine for now" kitchen, which was infinitely cheaper than replacing all the cabinets. His pots and pans were no longer a ridiculous piled-up mess, and the space was so much more functional. The units come in different widths and range from $20 to $129 from Lowes.

It turns out that some yardsticks and paint let you add inexpensive detail to your cabinets. Shanna of Beautiful Matters transformed her flat-front doors without needing to reface them, or swap them out for new ones. The whole thing was $100.

Small details, like these wall outlets with built-in USB chargers, really ratchet up the convenience factor in Sarah's recently remodeled galley kitchen.

Karen at The Art of Doing Stuff has a good tip. She had her range hood extended to the ceiling by visiting a metal fabricator. The addition only cost $60 and makes the kitchen look more so polished and professional.

These floating open shelves in Preparing for Peanuts' kitchen cover up the ugly parts of the LED lights that are installed underneath. The lights were only $30 at IKEA.

Krista (via Remodelaholic) added decorative corbels in several places throughout her kitchen, including the island featured above, and on her range hood. This one feature gives the room a cohesive look, and makes it special. Home Depot has a large selection of unfinished wood corbels, and you can find four for under $100.
