Last April, we featured Runtal Radiators as a "best of" from the KBIS show. At the time, we wrote mainly of radiators that double as towel heaters, but last fall we explored further. With no radiator in my home office, daily winter work was absolutely freezing. Since I didn't want the obstruction or limits of space that come from a standard radiator, I looked to Runtal for attaching along a baseboard or a wall (I ended up going with the wall as the baseboard has electrical outlets in it.) More pics and info below on sizes and price points:
Size, BTU output and prices (click here to help calculate the BTU needed to heat a particular room):
- 12' long x12" high /11,160 / $886
- 14' long x 9" high / 10,780 / $806
- 9' long x 6" high / 5,400 / $521
- 10' long x 6" high / 6,000 / $552
Any of the above can be had in a "designer" color enamel for an additional $100 per radiator. Of course, you'll need to factor in labor costs for general installation or if there are any pipes that need to be re-routed in your home.
We saved a few hundred dollars by going the Runtal route vs. cast iron base board radiator (available from Burnham). And, we got a lot more of a seamless look.
