Walking in LA?

Walking in LA?

This neighbor's strawberry plants have snuck under his fence. Looks like they're almost ripe for our picking!
They say that nobody in LA walks. There was a song written about it a few years ago and in LA Story, Steve Martin takes his car to his next door neighbor's house. But, with the high score for walkability in our neighborhood and Green Month here at AT, we're trying to give it more of a try and get comfortable with that "hmm, I feel like I left something at home" feeling. Walking gives us a chance to see what's really going on in our neighborhood. Last night on our way to dinner, here's what we discovered...

This neighbor has built a pagoda in his backyard. We bet it's a great spot for reading or dining!

Two houses, almost exactly alike but for the colour. Interesting how colour and landscaping can make such a big difference. The green one, on the left, looks much more inviting.

This neighbor's side door has this interesting detail; succulent plants nest inside the siding.

We applaud this neighbor's native plantings lawn. In some Los Angeles counties, as well as being a water friendly option that benefits the environment and cuts down on your water bill, this nets you a nice tax credit, always an welcome dose of green.
