Ever wanted the holy grail of audio equipment? Look no further than your Bang & Olufsen store; they're pulling a Steve Jobs and churning out high end audio equipment we immediately fall in love with, but never knew we ever needed. Take their new BeoSound 5 system for example - its slick interface lets you browse music from a mountable LCD remote which features scrollable album art, accessible through an aluminum scroll wheel to a hard drive server built right into the tiny thing. More info and pictures, after the jump.

The hi-fi Beosound system stores music digitally on a 500GB music server and features a 10.4" 1024x768 resolution LCD display, packs three USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, DVI, S-video and Composite video along with Ethernet connectivity.

If you're not familiar with Bang & Olufsen, think of them as the "Prada" of consumer audio. Their products tend to be geared towards the recession-proof fellows that drive fast cars and live in penthouses with indoor swimming pools. Compared to mainstream products, you'll probably find the price tags ridiculous. However, their designs continue to be innovative and it's just a matter of time when a mainstream manufacturer like Logitech to pick it up and make it a price point we can all agree with.

The Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 5 system is priced at $5,377 (Yeah.. right) and will be available in March 2009.
