Adam has worked to combine his love of music and art into a clean, comfortable home. Over the last year of living in his new space, Adam has been trying out pieces and artwork. Adam uses his musical instruments and travel photos as art and decor. He also has some lovely furniture pieces and artwork from his parents...

To fit his design aesthetic and love of a calm, modern space, Adam has visited many local stores and sources and gotten help from Vastu on 14th Street NW. Adam organized his den to serve also as a guest room, office, and music practice room. He is also happy with the terrace layout and decor, but intends to keep working on the living room and bedroom.

My Style: Comfortable Modern.

Inspiration: Travel and music.

Favorite Element: I love the way the den came together. Working with Eric Kole from Vastu, I was able to turn the small space into a very personalized and livable area.

Biggest Challenge: Editing down things I owned in order to keep the clean modern look I was aiming to achieve. After donating and throwing out a lot of stuff, I was able to come up with some simple storage solutions to keep the clutter to a minimum. When I finally get around to doing more with the bedroom, I'll purchase a storage bed that will give me additional space to stash things.

What Friends Say: "It's very you." Which I take as a compliment.

Biggest Embarrassment: The bedroom is currently just an assortment of furniture items that I wasn't ready to get rid of, but that didn't work anywhere else in my condo. The bedroom will be getting re-done in the new year.

Proudest DIY: The art in my den. It's a series of four photos I took of graffiti while in Europe in 2007. They are great representations of part of my aesthetic and I feel that they work with the space very well.

Biggest Indulgence: The two David Edwards' Lolita chairs upholstered in flannel suede. More than any other piece of furniture I have, those get the most compliments and are extremely comfortable.

Best Advice: The design team at Vastu has been a continuous source of great advice as they helped make my vision for a modern living space into one that is functional, practical, comfortable and fun.

Dream Source: The entire Knoll catalog of furniture and textiles for living spaces and Boffi for the kitchen.

Appliances: The fridge, stove/range, microwave and dishwasher are all from GE's Profile line.

Living Room: Knoll Planter coffee table, side table, and handkerchief chair. The coffee table has a glass top and the side table has a marble top; Steven Anthony Dunbar sofa and ottoman; David Edward armless Lolita Chair.
Bedroom: The majority of my furniture is from Vastu. There are two pieces in my bedroom, the armoire and a blue chair, that are from Random Harvest.

Window Treatments: Hunter Douglas Solar Shades from WindowWears.

Artwork: Other than some photographs that I took and one of my guitars hung up in my den, most of the other art has been gifted to me from my parents' collection. The living room wall space is a work in progress.

Paint: Benjamin Moore Mohair in the living room and London Fog in the den.

Thanks, Adam!
